How to use Retirement Calculator

  1. Enter your ages

Set your current age, the age you plan to retire and your life expectancy so the tool knows how long the corpus must last.

  2. Add your expenses & savings

Enter your current monthly expenses and any savings you've already built for retirement.

  3. Set the rates

Choose an inflation rate and the returns you expect before and after retirement (post-retirement is usually more conservative).

  4. See the corpus needed

The calculator inflates your expenses to retirement and works out the lump sum needed to fund them for life.

  5. Read your monthly SIP

It then shows the monthly investment required — after accounting for your existing savings — to reach that corpus in time.

Frequently asked questions

How much do I need to retire?

Enough to cover your inflation-adjusted expenses for the rest of your life. This calculator inflates today's expenses to your retirement age, then computes the lump sum that, invested at a modest post-retirement return, funds those withdrawals until your life expectancy.

What is a SIP and why is it shown?

A SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) is a fixed monthly investment. The tool shows the monthly SIP needed — on top of your existing savings — to accumulate the required corpus by your retirement age.

Why use different returns before and after retirement?

Before retirement you can take more risk for higher returns (e.g. equity ~12%). After retirement, capital is usually shifted to safer assets, so a lower, steadier return (e.g. 7%) is more realistic.

Does it account for inflation?

Yes. Your expenses are grown to retirement at the inflation rate, and the corpus math uses the real (inflation-adjusted) return so your withdrawals keep pace with rising prices through retirement.

Is my data private?

Completely. All calculations run in your browser — none of your figures are uploaded or stored.
