FD / RD / PPF Calculator

Estimate maturity for fixed, recurring & PPF deposits.

Estimate the maturity value of a Fixed Deposit (lump sum), a Recurring Deposit (monthly) or a PPF account (yearly). FD and RD compound quarterly like Indian banks, while PPF compounds yearly on the balance. See the amount invested, the interest earned, the maturity value, a donut split and a year-wise growth table. Runs fully in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

How to use FD / RD / PPF Calculator

  1. Choose FD, RD or PPF

Pick Fixed Deposit for a lump sum, Recurring Deposit for a fixed monthly saving, or PPF for a yearly government-backed investment.

  2. Enter the amount

Set the one-time deposit (FD), the monthly deposit (RD) or the yearly deposit (PPF) using the slider or by typing.

  3. Set rate and tenure

Enter the annual interest rate offered and the number of years. PPF has a minimum 15-year lock-in built in.

  4. See the maturity value

The hero shows your maturity amount, and the donut splits it into what you invested versus the interest earned.

  5. Review the yearly growth

Scroll the year-wise table to see the invested amount, interest and balance at the end of each year.

Frequently asked questions

How is FD maturity calculated?

A Fixed Deposit earns compound interest, and most Indian banks compound it quarterly. The calculator uses Maturity = P × (1 + R∕(4×100))^(4×T), where P is your deposit, R is the annual rate and T is the tenure in years.

How does the RD calculation work?

A Recurring Deposit takes an equal deposit every month and, like an FD, compounds interest quarterly. The tool simulates each monthly deposit and applies quarterly compounding, so later deposits earn interest for less time — which is why the maturity is a bit less than a lump sum of the same total.

How is PPF interest calculated?

PPF interest is compounded once a year on your running balance. This calculator adds your yearly deposit, credits interest at the year's rate, and repeats — so you see the full 15-year (or longer) growth. The current PPF rate is set by the government each quarter; update the rate field to match.

Are these figures exact?

They're accurate estimates using the standard formulas. Your bank's actual payout can vary slightly due to its exact compounding dates, rounding, TDS on interest and any change in rates, so treat the result as a close guide.
