Spin the Wheel — Random Name Picker

Add names and spin a colourful wheel to pick one at random.

A free spin the wheel game and random name picker for classrooms, giveaways, teams and any group decision. Enter how many people are playing, type everyone's name, then watch a colourful wheel spin and stop on one name — with ticking pegs, a winner fanfare and a confetti burst. Play full screen in light or dark mode with up to 12 names. Every spin is a fair, unbiased 1-in-N from your browser's cryptographic random generator — the winner is drawn before the wheel even moves, so nothing is rigged. 100% in-browser — no app, no sign-up.

How to use Spin the Wheel — Random Name Picker

  1. Say how many are playing

Choose a number of players from 2 up to 12. The wheel splits into that many equal slices, so everyone starts with exactly the same chance.

  2. Enter the names

Type a name for each slice — people, teams, chores, prizes or anything else you want to choose between. Your list is saved in your browser for next time.

  3. Spin the wheel

Press Spin and the wheel accelerates, ticks past the pegs and slows to a stop on one name, with confetti and a fanfare for the winner.

  4. Turn on No repeats for rounds

Leave No repeats on and each winner is set aside until everyone has been picked once. That is what you want for turn order, secret santa or splitting tasks.

  5. Set the mood

Switch between the light and dark theme, mute the sound if you are in company, and go full screen so the wheel fills the display.

Frequently asked questions

Is the spin the wheel result really random?

Yes. The winner is drawn from your browser's cryptographic random generator before the animation even starts, and the wheel is then aimed at that slice. The spin you watch is just the delivery, so it cannot be nudged towards any name.

Why does the wheel keep landing on the same name?

That is normal for genuinely random picks — with a small list, repeats happen more often than people expect, and truly random results rarely look evenly spread. If you want every name drawn once before any repeats, switch on No repeats.

How many names can I add to the wheel?

Between 2 and 12. Every name gets an equal slice, so each one has exactly the same chance on every spin.

What does the No repeats option do?

It removes each winner from the pool until everyone has been picked once, then refills the wheel and starts a fresh round. Use it for turn order, team draws or handing out tasks so nobody gets picked twice.

Are my names saved or uploaded anywhere?

Your list is saved only in your own browser so it is still there when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account and nobody else can see what you entered.

Is the random name picker free to use?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no app to install and no limit on how many times you spin.

Can I use it on a phone or a projector?

Yes. The wheel is full screen and scales to the display, so it works on a phone in your hand and on a classroom projector or TV.

Is this the same as Wheel of Names?

It's the same idea — add names, spin, get a random winner — built as its own free tool. It adds a No repeats mode for fair multi-round picks, a full-screen view built for classrooms and streams, and a light or dark theme, with no sign-up either way.

Can I use this wheel for a raffle or giveaway?

Yes. Add every entrant's name (up to 12 at a time), spin, and the winner is drawn fairly from the browser's cryptographic random generator — the same fair-draw method a raffle needs, with a confetti moment for the announcement.

Do I need to download a wheel spinner app?

No. This is a free wheel spinner website, not an app — it opens straight in your phone, tablet or desktop browser with nothing to install, and works the same across iOS, Android and desktop.
